Today I had Fun

Though my photo session got cancelled, I saw my neighbor's kids playing outside. I called them if I can take their pictures. I have permission already from their parents and everytime I gave them a copy of their picture, I have a model release form for them to sign. I give them 2 copies of the image, if they want more I let them pay. I think I'm being reasonable, but yes, I am not sh shy asking for the parents to sign the model release form.

I want to ask, how do some of our Peas get to train their eyes to focus on a F/3.2. I am so bored on my f/5.6, I want to open my aperture wider, I don't have kids, what should I do? Don't tell me to get one, that's one expensive props. Congratulations, Heather!!!! I'm so happy for you..beautiful people need to multiply, right?

HHCC for me...exposure information--F/5.6, ISO 1600(its so gloomy outside! I was struggling with light), SS 200.
Amanda's Action on this one. I did partial Teya's pop, duplicated the eyes and used curve layers.

Nice job with the poses on these shots! I see you're learning Teya's Eye Pop method. I think it's simple and it works. Good for you!
I see the first 2 shots a bit underexposed. Nothing that a little PS wouldn't cure though...try curves and/or levels and see how it improves the lighting...then you can just do a color pop and you'll be set.
And I really like the silhouette shot. Nicely done!
As far as the focusing point...try changing it as you shoot. What camera are you using? On the Canon Digi Rebel XT, the dial allows you to move the focusing point so that when you are at 1.8 -3.5, etc, you can see where your focus is landing by preselecting the focusing point. And then I've also heard about back button focus but I don't know anything about it...sorry :(

I love the third one. It is so hard to get it just right, with the right light on the face. BEAUTIFUL!

I know how you feel! I don't have kids either, so my poor nieces and nephews RUN when they see me coming with my camera bag!
Nice poses! I do a lot of pictures using the pose where I look down on my subject. I love that one.

Tiffany , these look great! You always do so well at backlighting. As far as shooting wider, I think it's just a practice thing. I starting shooting wide open with all of my lenses and hardly ever do other wise. What focusing method are you using? This will make a difference too. I use the center point, focus and recompose the shot. I also use back-button focusing. As far as the center point - I'm considering playing with other methods. It works well for close ups but hasn't been great from a distance.
sorry I'm writing a novel here. :) Let me know If I can help you any more.

Awe...thanks for the comment. I had a difficult day, so reading it really made it a better day for me!

I like your moody lighting here, think it works with your model and poses. Normally I would say a little dark, but again...think it really enhances on these.

As far as the aperture thing/focusing...I think it's a LOT of practicing and steady hand. Try playing around with flowers and different apertures. Try without a tripod and with, sometimes that makes a differentce, especially in different lighting situations. On people, I love using 4.0 and then, trying to focus inbetween the eyes. Or...maybe just in the corner of one eye. A lot of it does depend on your lens of course. You'll get some duds, but you'll also get a diamond in the rough too and wonder why on earth didn't you play around sooner:)

beautiful shots. I just try shooting a number of the same shot while changing my aperture, then see which one i like the best. I really like shooting wider, but it can be tricky, especially when shooting people.

Just had to stop by and say thanks for the comment on my portfolio-building website. I'm thinking that by next fall (or maybe even later this summer) I'll have enough sessions under my belt that I'll start up a website. I commented on these on 2peas, but again -- great job! She looks like one of the Olsen twins!!
